Installing the Microsoft Windows AIK or ADK - Documentation for TrueSight Server Automation 22.2

The Microsoft Windows Automated Installation Kit (AIK), more recently renamed as the Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (ADK), enables TrueSight Server Automation to create WinPE images that serve as a preboot environment during provisioning of Windows packages.This topic includes the following sections:

If you are not creating Windows boot images, skip this section.

Prerequisites

BMC recommends installing AIK or ADK on the same server with the PXE server, although this is not mandatory.

Note

The RSCD agent must be running on the TFTP server while you are generating boot images with the TrueSight Server Automation image generator. However, during AIK or ADK installation, PXE server and TFTP server availability is not required.

Required software

Install the kit that is appropriate for your versions of WinPE and operating system, according to the instructions provided by Microsoft.

WinPE 8.5 RU1Starting with Windows 10, version 1809, Windows Preinstallation Environment (PE) is released separately from the Assessment and Deployment Kit (ADK). To add Windows PE to your ADK installation, download the Windows PE add-on and run the included installer after installing the ADK. After you run the installer, the WinPE files will be in the same location as they were in the previous ADK installations.
WinPE 5.1Supports newer Windows Server versions, such as Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows Server 2012 (and various others).
