2017 Triple-A All-Star Game Rosters — College Baseball, MLB Draft, Prospects

No. 1 prospect Yoan Moncada, chosen for the Futures Game earlier in the day, is also part of the International League all-star team that will face the Pacific Coast League on July 12.

Here are other prospects to watch:

Willy Adames, ss, Durham (Rays): One of the International League’s youngest players, Adames has torn up the competition after a slow start. The centerpiece of the trade that sent David Price to Detroit, Adames possesses a diverse blend of above-average skills that should allow him to be an impact player at the highest level.

Ozzie Albies, 2b, Gwinnett (Braves): Albies isn’t an imposing presence at the plate, but he gets it done nonetheless. The 20-year-old’s numbers have increased month by month in the IL, and he’s got enough bat control and contact ability that some scouts believe he could be a well above-average hitter in the major leagues and will provide value with speed and defense, too.

Dustin Fowler, of, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (Yankees): He was called up to the Yankees on Thursday, so being named a Triple-A all-star probably comes in a distant second on his list of accomplishments in the past 24 hours. Nonetheless, Fowler has continued the breakout that began last year in Double-A. He possesses contact, power, speed and defensive skills and has asserted himself as the Yankees’ top outfield prospect.

Rhys Hoskins, 1b, Lehigh Valley (Phillies): Hoskins has cooled off a little bit since a scorching start, but he’s nonetheless quieted any doubters who thought last year’s explosion was a product of the environment at Reading. He blends hit ability with power potential and should be an impact player once he gets to Philadelphia.

Yoan Moncada, 2b, Charlotte (White Sox): The game’s top prospect owns some of the most explosive tools in the minor leagues. He has well above-average raw power and footspeed, and is an above-average hitter as well. He’s athletic and built like a football player. After a cameo in Boston last year before being dealt for Chris Sale, Moncada should be back in the big leagues with the White Sox this year.

Amed Rosario, SS, Las Vegas (Mets): With the Mets in a tailspin, there have been many calls for Rosario’s callup to the majors. While that hasn’t happened yet, Rosario is more than holding his own in Triple-A. The well-rounded 21-year-old has enough tools to make an impact at the plate, in the field and on the bases.

Alex Verdugo, OF, Oklahoma City (Dodgers): Verdugo and Cody Bellinger were teammates last year in the Arizona Fall League, and Bellinger is up with the Dodgers destroying the National League. Verdugo might not be far behind. The big-swinging outfielder is slashing .344/.411/.434 in Triple-A and could make an impact with his bat in Los Angeles later this season.
